Experience in urology
Dr. Hoare has had years of training in general and reconstructive urology. He is currently certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). These private services may be an option for many patients, but if they are not right for you, he is equipped to discuss alternative options.
Erectile dysfunction (ED)
Erections are complex, but when you boil it down, many men with erectile dysfunction face this challenge due to poor blood flow into the penis. Treatment for this can range from simply exercising and eating healthy to having a surgery to place a prosthesis. Shockwave - or low-intensity shockwave treatment (Li-SWT) - is a newer option for this condition with growing evidence to support its use.
Peyronie’s and chronic pelvic pain
Although most evidence for shockwave therapy is applied to erectile dysfunction, there is growing evidence to support its role in the treatment of chronic pain conditions of the penis, scrotum, pelvis and perineum. It has not been proven to reduce the curvature associated with Peyronie’s disease, but it may help with the pain experience during the active phase.
